Manchester Town Hall Extension handover has commenced

Five office floors have already been handed back to Manchester City Council and staff have begun to ‘come home’ to the refurbished Grade II* listed building. Around fourteen hundred staff will have moved back into the THX by July 2013.

Prior to works commencing the Town Hall Extension was occupied by 1200 staff. The refurbished space will provide 1550 permanent workstations along with the breakout spaces, touchdown zones and meeting spaces which allow the council to introduce the new ways of working that will allow up to 2500 staff to work from the building.

ISA highly commended at AJ100

Ian Simpson Architects were highly commended in the AJ100 Fastest Growing Practice category last night. The shortlist for the Fastest Growing Practice category included AHMM, Assael Architecture, EPR Architects, John Robertson Architects and Scott Brownrigg. ISA was also shorlisted for Practice of the Year, which was won by AHMM. Congratulations! ISA is now ranked 28th in the list of largest and most influential architecture practices in the UK.

Ian Simpson at CTBUH 2013

Ian Simpson is one of the invited speakers at the 2013 Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat international conference taking place in London in June. Ian’s talk, entitled “London and Beyond: Regionalism and the English Skyscraper” will focus on the specific challenges and opportunities of building tall structures in London and other regional cities using case studies such as One Blackfriars Road, Beethnam Hilton Tower, Holloway Circus and Lumiere.
